What is it about?
This study investigates how courting activity of male fiddler crabs affects their feeding/energy gain

Why is it important?
Animals need to trade-off between reproduction and foraging since reproductive activities would inhibit their foraging activities/energy gain. This study investigates the feeding effort of 'feeding only' males as well as 'feeding and courting (waving major claws)' males. We found that the feeding rate of 'feeding only' males was higher than feeding rate of 'feeding and courting males'. It shows clearly that courting activity of male fiddler crabs reduces their feeding activity.
