What is it about?
The nature of mouthparts of a copepod crustacean indicate what the animal eats. Those of a herbivore are designed to eat plants - they enable the copepod to convert plant food to animal material. Those of a carnivore are designed to eat small animal-like organisms - they enable the copepod to convert small, animal-like organisms into larger animals. Both types provide food for fish and shellfish - in the Web of Food required for life in the marine environment - and Life on Earth.
