What is it about?
This manuscript presents the first record of twins in caatinga howler monkeys (Alouatta ululata). Furthermore, we show that there is cooperative parental care in this species. Despite being a common behavior in small primate species such as those belonging to the Callitrichidae family (marmosets and lion tamarins), it is little known for the Alouatta genus. Caatinga howler monkeys may use cooperative parental care to cope with the twins demands in the group and consequently facilitates the development and survival of twins.
