Alarm calls of house wrens (Troglodytes aedon bonariae) elicit responses of conspecific and heterospecific species

This study evaluates the functionality of alarm calls in the house wren. The alarm calls of this species are conspicuous and attract individuals of the same and other species which may trigger a mobbing response. The results of this study and previous studies show a multifunctionality of alarm calls in this species.
