What is it about?

Ignatius of Antioch's relation to the division between early Christianity and Judaism has been the subject of a great deal of debate. Many have concluded that a lack of reference by Ignatius to the Scriptures of Israel indicates an almost Marcionite tendency, moving away from the 1st Century concern to demonstrate that all things are 'according to the Scriptures'. However, when comparing the use of Scripture in Ignatius more closely to that of the writings of the New Testament, in many cases there is little difference. This essay argues that the significance of Ignatius' use of Scripture to the 'Parting of the Way(s)' has been overstated.
