What is it about?
Raffaele Pettazzoni (1883–1959) was a very significant historian of religions. However, there are only two books by Pettazzoni in English: The All-knowing God (1956) and Essays on the History of Religions (1954) and a tiny collection of articles. This is a serious neglect of such a productive scholar and exemplary historian of religions. This paper assesses the reception of Pettazzoni in the Anglophone Academy, questions the adequacy and accuracy of that reception, and indicates what might be learned from it.
