What is it about?

This article argues that two Roman historical myths are connected to the Roman mint on the Capitoline Hill. Civil conflict in the late Republic (c. 133-31 BCE) often featured dissidents on the Capitoline; this article argues that concern for the safety of the mint led to increased interest in these myths, as well as their narrative assimilation to each other.
