What is it about?
This paper examines the rhetorical strategies by which Tyrtaeus creates a cohesive Spartan we-identity for his audience. This identity rests on two criteria: shared descent from the Dorians who came to Sparta with the Herakleidai and obedience to the Herkleid kings of Sparta.
