The Addressee(s) of Sappho fragment 112 Voigt

What is it about?

This note discusses the addressees in Sappho's fr. 112 V. It presupposes a separation of lines 1-2 from lines 3-5, and argues that, in the Sapphic original, lines 3 and 4 were addressed to the bride, line 5 to the bridegroom. This note also suggests that the gaps of lines 3 and 5 may have contained personal names of bride and bridegroom, indicating this change.
