What is it about?

The book's subtitle indicates that it deals with a debate between the German physicist Einstein and the French philosopher Bergson about our understanding of time. The author explains that Einstein and Bergson had opposing views of time, i.e. Einstein developed a physical notion of time, whilst Bergson was interested in the psychology of time.

Why is it important?

The book is written in a rather journalistic fashion and will appeal more to cultural historians than historians and philosophers of science.

Perspectives

I found the book very disappointing because it contains too many superficialities and technical inaccuracies.
