What is it about?
The Vlissingen-Ambon sister city program is a unique examplar of how diasporic communities can use their cultural heritage to reminisce their ancestral homelands. It has helped the Mollucan diaspora community in Vlissingen to cope with the psychological trauma of being banished and to cultivate a distinct form of exilic diaspora. This research highlights the power of culture to foster transnational ties and healing historical wounds.
