What is it about?

The papers highlights how social media has become an instrumental space in shaping people's perceptions, beliefs and acceptance of the COVID 19 vaccine.The findings show that most people do not trust the government or health institutions and these distrusting by citizens subsequently turn to unofficial online sources of information which fuel myths, conspiracies, rumour and gossip leading to emotions of fear and panic and vaccine hesitancy. Most citizens have resorted to social media to update each other on the efficacy of vaccines as well as the pros and cons of getting inoculated highlighting the skepticism attached to COVID-19 vaccines in Zimbabwe.
