What is it about?
In 1512 the Holy Robe was exhibited in Trier at the behest of Emperor Maximilian I. On this occasion several sanctuary reports were published. Hans Othmar (from Augsburg) transformed an old poem dealing with King Orendel and the Holy Robe to prose.

Why is it important?
The Prose ›Orendel‹ combines different styles: The old heroic poem was used both as a sanctuary report about the Holy Robe and as Call for war against the Turks.
Perspectives
This examination should be a impetus for further research activities about the connections between ›Orendel‹ and the politics of the head of the Holy Roman Empire.
