What is it about?
Leadership challenges for women from Africa and the Middle East are multiplied due to the societal and cultural challenges that may hinder access to resources or affirm the stereotypical views of women in leadership. This chapter narrates the story of the success of a young ELT female leader from Africa and offers some insights into leadership in this context.

Why is it important?
This chapter is particularly important for emerging leaders in low-resource contexts and in other contexts where the gender and cultural perceptions of leadership are intersected and may sometimes hinder the path to growth. It offers some insights from lived experiences and professional encounters that may help younger leaders and even experienced leaders understand the organizational and social complexities of the job that are rarely discussed.
Perspectives
Writing this chapter was a great chance to reflect on my journey as a leader and has helped me gain insights into my experience as well as my identity as a female leader. I hope you find it as helpful and thought-provoking as I intended it to be.
