What is it about?

This article is about how Hebrew writers in late Ottoman and Mandatory Palestine wrote about the history of early Islam and the relationships between Muslims and Jews in the Arabian Peninsula. The article argues that these Hebrew works reflected the development of Hebrew culture in Palestine and helped promote Zionist ideals among Jewish settlers in the area. These ideals included bringing Hebrew back to life, returning to the East both physically and culturally, showing the benefits that Zionists could bring to the indigenous population of Palestine, emphasizing Jewish influence on Islam, and promoting Jewish heroism and sacrifice through stories about the early conflicts between Jews and Muslims.
