I examine where Marshall's work fit when it was published 50 years ago as a challenge to some German studies on Luke and then assess how the discussion picked up from the work that he did, especially in two areas, Christology and the emphasis on Jew-Gentile union as salvation is seen from a corporate and cosmic lens.
