What is it about?
Policymakers eager to heal U.S. division can learn from history. In particular, the Progressive Era offers policymakers one big idea: public education. While the Progressive Era witnessed an expansion of public education, it also reversed progress on racial equality and neglected to resolve an inflammatory media, mistakes that have contributed to today's division. Learning from such successes and failures presents policymakers with a path to solving today's turmoil.
