What is it about?
China is now the largest videogame market on the planet, and its games are starting to be popular in the West as well. This paper examines what role Chinese cultural heritage plays in the characterization of its games, as well as the similarities and differences with the Western and Japanese traditions of game arts and development.

Why is it important?
The interest for Chinese games is evident both in the country itself and worldwide. With the constant expansion of digital games in new markets, the production and demand for cultural representation that strays away from the canons which we have been used to in the past decades will continue to grow.
