The Dark Side of Nonviolent Action? Right-wing Populism and the Use of Nonviolent Action _x000D_ This paper discusses how right-wing populist movements in Austria and Indonesia have started to increasingly use nonviolent methods such as demonstrations, marches, nonviolent occupations, etc. and how that shift in tactics can be explained by theories of nonviolence and populism. It finds that while the use of nonviolent action might actually be healthy in a democracy, it becomes problematic when it is used to either undermine the system or to target underprivileged groups in society such as minorities or immigrants.
