What is it about?

We consider a plant culm type has been strongly linked to the microstructure. The main purpose of the work is to analyze the variation of anatomical elements on the circumferential and radial directions and investigate how the microstructure influence the square culm. We did not find evidence of similar variation in the density of vascular bundles and other anatomical characters. However, a statistically significant difference in fiber characteristics was found in central zone. We found that the fiber length showed more elongated and the fiber width showed narrower in side regions than the corner at central zone that differ from the inner and peripheral zones. They have a potential interrelation in central zone between fiber characteristics and square culm. In general, the results highlight a remarkably high correlation in fiber form, central position, and square culm type.
