What is it about?
The study shows importance of flower color variation and attraction as a mechanism for pollination and protection of floral parts in Rhododendron arboreum (Tree of Himalayan region). Seven color morphs of flowers and five types of spot variation in nectar guide were observed. The study emphasize the role of flower color variation in both pollination and adaptation to varied environmental conditions. Further, the significance of petal spots in directing the visitor to the nectar is discussed.

Why is it important?
The findings suggest that Rhododendron arboreum is an adaptable species for Himalayan region. This is because it displays variation in petal color and spotting pattern on petals, so that it can utilize services of different pollinators for pollination mechanism.
Perspectives
The articles address the adaptations in Rhododendron arboreum flower as color variation and petal spotting as a mechanism to attract different pollinators. It will throw some light on importance of color variation and attraction in flower.
