What is it about?

Platycodon grandiflorum seed were treated by low temperature plasma. Combing germination index, physiological index with transcriptome results, the mechanism of alleviating Platycodon grandiflorum seeds dormancy under LTP was analyzed.

Why is it important?

The social demand of Platycodon grandiflorum raw materials has increased rapidly, the large-scale artificial cultivation of Platycodon grandiflorum being started. While, the germination rate of Platycodon grandiflorum seeds is low and the germination period is long, which makes the seeds easy to become moldy and then lose their germination power. In order to solve this problem.Low temperature plasmas(LTP)of treating seed is a new technology for increasing agricultural yield, which is an application of physical technology in biology and agriculture.

Perspectives

These results provided novel insights into the mechanism of promoting Platycodon grandiflorum seed germination under low temperature plasma. At the same time, which can provide theoretical basis and practical guidance for cultivation and planting of Platycodon grandiflorum.
