Explaining Visual Shape–Taste Crossmodal Correspondences

What is it about?

People associate shape properties with tastes. This review highlights the evidence demonstrating such shape-taste crossmodal correspondences in experimental studies and also in everyday language. Several possible explanations are put forward to explain the existence of such correspondences. Challenges in using such shape-taste correspondences to nudge people's food behaviour are also highlighted.
