What is it about?
The comedy Novantanove Disgrazie di Pulcinella (Roma 1769) by Gregorio Mancinelli presents a rich “scena all’ebraica”, i.e. a comic scene with Jewish characters who speak Judeo-Italian are the protagonists. Mancinelli’s “scena all’ebraica” is published here in its entirety for the first time, accompanied by an English translation and an analysis of the language and contents.
