Why is it important?

The lack of an accessible English-language collection of Heredia's correspondence has limited the growth of Heredia studies in the U.S. The availability of these writings for new readers opens possibilities for the direction of Heredia studies and for inquiries into the presence and impact of Cuban and other Latin American writers in the nineteenth century United States.
