What is it about?
The aim of this study is to demystify the extreme right armed organization Portugal’s Liberation Army (ELP) which acted in the Portuguese transition from an authoritarian regime to a democratic one in the 1970s. We contribute to the literature on the Portuguese transition to democracy, but also on the role of the extreme right in post-authoritarian contexts, and on political violence in processes of democratization.
