What is it about?

This articles explores the impact of graduates from an intellectual network linking Somalia and Sudan on Shari'a authority and practice in Mogadishu, Somalia. More specifically, the articles examines how these graduates helped transform the Shari'a courts of Mogadishu from a group of independent and self-governing neighborhood courts into a unified legal system for Mogadishu under the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC).
