Why is it important?
Alexander Vovin was a major scholar in historical linguistics, whose studies set important milestones to the study of several Asian languages.
Perspectives
As Sasha's last PhD student, writing his obituary was deeply moving. Although I am saddened that he never got to see the results of my research, I feel blessed to have had the privilege of working with such a remarkable and kind-hearted person, and I hope this text will help people remember him for the years to come.
