What is it about?
Recent studies into the therapeutic potential of psychedelic substances are demonstrating promising results in the treatment of depression, anxiety and PTSD. As psychedelic substances like MDMA and psilocybin near FDA approval as a therapeutic tool, there is a need to develop language and techniques around psychedelic experiences. Jungian psychology offers such a framework through the creative and transformative language of alchemy. Symbols and concepts in alchemy, such as the subtle body, the vessel, and prima materia, offer ways of constructing meaning around psychedelic experience. By constructing meaning through alchemical language, individuals may integrate their transformational psychedelic experiences, having a lasting impact on their life.
