What is it about?
This artickle is about the ties which Theoderic the Great - the ruler of Ostrogothic Italy in the begining of 6th century - constructed by marriages. Why these ties were so important? What were Theoderic's aims? Were these ties and Theoderic's mental models mostly Roman or Germanic?

Why is it important?
It is important for scholars who study Early Middle Ages and Late Antiquity, interractions between people of different cultures, states with problem of migration, kinship and its social role.
Perspectives
Perspectives for this article are associated more with the issues of studying the Germanic peoples than Theodoric the Great or the problems of kinship. I believe that my research will provide scholars with the material to study Germanic communities regardless Latin rhetorical stratages.
