Configurations of Islam in Contemporary Art in Norway

What is it about?

"Islam and the 'Religion of the Pig' in Contemporary Art in Norway" is about representations of Islam in rap music and scenic art that have recently impacted the Norwegian cultural and political scene. The works I have examined focus on questions of integration, islamophobia, racism, and difficult cross cultural love. Still, I argue that the inclusion of art works created by Muslims, or that focuses on Islam, in the major cultural institutions of Norway also testify to a high degree of integration.
