What is it about?
Ayurvedic raw material prices are increasing in India, questioning the sustainability of the herbal industry. This paper explores the complexity of herbs' supply chains in Kerala, questioning availability of plants and traceability along intertwined networks. It considers the effects of supply chains' opacity on quality of the raw material and looks at the solutions explored by Ayurvedic companies for improving control on their supply, like cultivation of medicinal plants.
