What is it about?
We discuss the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s public engagement directed towards the Indigenous Sámi and the National Minority - the Kven/Norwegian Finns, and the efforts towards the wider public referred to as the ‘majority population.’

Why is it important?
We assert that the TRC selected a more secluded working strategy while the mandate gave the commission the means to be more publicly active and to address different public audiences. We conclude that there is a discrepancy between the expectations arising from the mandate and the actual public engagement of the commission.
Perspectives
We appreciate how the processes of writing this article, has provided insight into similar experiences of truth and reconciliation efforts in other indigenous areas of the world, while simultaneously revealing significant differences in indigenous/minority – state relationships.
