What is it about?

This article is meant to shed light on a socio-cultural group i.e., a complementary element of the Indian pluralistic social mosaic. It provides a contemporary profile of the Muslim women delineating some of the major sociological and anthropological features of the community that have drawn considerable media attention in recent times. The article further emphasizes the underlying factors responsible for the marginalization of Muslim women in India and also argues how gender discrimination becomes an obstruction to play a constructive role in society. The findings provide important insights into Muslim women in India and they have particular implications for research, policy, and practice in this precedence area. The paper also advocates for some points to overcome these contemporary circumstances of Muslim women prevailing in the land.
