What is it about?

This review highlights the timely importance of Gerhard Lohfink's Forty Parables of Jesus book. His text challenges us to hear Jesus' stories with their original context in mind and let them speak to our current cultural, societal and spiritual realities. As we faithfully listen to them we are encouraged and stirred to action.

Why is it important?

As I read, I found that Gerhard's conclusions helpful to how we approach parable storytelling. He reminds us that Christ's parables don't have to sit perfectly in modern and postmodern categories and systems. The beauty of parables and their historical contexts must be honored and listened to.

Perspectives

It was such a pleasure to read Gerhard's work, and I think the global community will be enriched by it. Whether it be the curious reader, scholar, or student, anyone can find a helpful tool in reading Christ's parables with Gerhards findings.
