What is it about?

This book review is about the work of Roy Gane's in presenting the Christian Bible as a composite of two testaments, the Old and the New. The Old Testament describes God's relationship with humanity prior to the coming of Christ. Gane explains the importance of Old Testament Law to New Testament Christians. He discusses the meaning of some of the statutes and why they are important to contemporary believers.

Why is it important?

Many Christians prefer to focus their attention on New Testament lessons. Gane explains that to truly understand New Testament dogma one must have the background of Old Testament law. Understanding the salvation work of Christ can be greatly enhanced through the application of Old Testament typology.

Perspectives

I have taught the Old Testament to Christians for more than ten years and have enjoyed exploring the prophecies and events that led to the Cross. Gane's work broadened my understanding and the ability relate the typology that gives understanding to the culture and customs of the world in which Jesus lived.
