What is it about?

The paper studies the concept of the saint's buruz in Oghlan Shaykh Ibrahim's (d. 1655) Sohbetname. The purpose is to provide an Ottoman usage of the term in parallel with Persian (Nurbashkhiyya) and Mughal usages as studied by Shahzad Bashir and Azfar Moin. The paper also provides insight into the cyclical poetry (devriyye) as penned and recited by the Bayrami-Melami pir-poets.
