What is it about?
Evald Ilyenkov is one of the most interesting figures of a subterranean Marxism ever on the margins of the Soviet system and whose thought retains a contemporary relevance to philosophical, aesthetic, educational and psychological studies to this day. This is a review of a book regarding one of his most interesting philosophical essays.

Why is it important?
Evald Ilyenkov is still a figure who is relativel unknown in western philosophical circles (even amongst western marxists). Thus, any discussion of his work merits attention, especially discussio regarding of one of the most significant works (Dialectics of the Ideal) of the Ilyenkov ouevre.
Perspectives
I came across the work of Evald Ilyenkov thanks to an article by the author Alexei Tsvetkov who opened up the fascinating thought of Ilyenkov and how he paved a path (along with other major Soviet Marxist thinkers who, however, had a marginal space in the Soviet system) of thinking anew the Marxist and Spinozian philosophical traditions.
