What is it about?

This paper looks at the intersection between human rights and the duty which an individual owes to their society. The paper proposes practical solutions to the issues of human rights violations and reluctance to follow lawfully issued instructions in times of national emergencies such as Covid-19.

The study showed that the varying degree of democratization in the global North and South accounts for the divergent responses to COVID-19 restrictions across the world as evident in human rights abuse and popular protests.


This article resolves the dilemma between civic duties and human rights protection within emergency context.
