What is it about?

This essay explains the culture of dogfighting in rural Pakistan and shows how different cultural meanings are attributed to animal sports in Global South. The analysis is intended to help Pakistani policymakers to approach the activity from a cultural standpoint and address this animal rights issue in the country.

The essay shows the cultural significance of animal sports in the Global South.

Perspectives

Writing this article was a difficult exercise given my own stance against dogfighting and animal sports. However, here I argue that a cultural analysis explaining situated masculinities around dogfighting should help us better target this activity in Pakistan.
