This article addresses a problematic line in Sophocles' Electra, which several scholars have suspected of being corrupt. The article explains why the line must be corrupt, identifies where existing conjectures fall short and advances an original conjecture to solve this textual problem.

Although several scholars have identified this line as corrupt, the various plausible interpretations of the corrupt line (as well as the reasons they are all impossible) have not yet been properly synthesised. In addition, the conjecture I propose is my own original suggestion.
