What is it about?
When people see the picture of an animal they are prone to think about it as being male or female. It turns out to be connected mainly with androcentrism. Even in cases when it's linguistically equally possible to think about the animal as about female as well as about male, there are 7-8 males and 3-2 females. Stereotyped context around animals has some influence as well, but not as big as androcentrism.
