Why is it important?
Access to creative digital fabrication is increasing, in terms of both reach and affordability. This article shows how these developing tools can be applied to musical instrument design as an example of such creative deployment.
Perspectives
Connections between advancing technologies and traditional creative practices, such as instrument making, are often overlooked. This article draws attention to the creative potential of digital fabrication tools that might otherwise not be considered.
