What is it about?
The article explores lessons learned in broadcast music production (i.e. The Loudness Wars and Loudness Normalisation) and proposes to apply similar strategies to sound level management in music venues. The article proposes to focus on dynamic range over the duration of a concert.

Why is it important?
After half a century of amplified rock and pop concerts, many concerts are still experienced as too loud by many. Not only do noise issues threaten the existence of many venues, more must be done to reduce hearing damage risks for audiences, musicians and venue staff.
