What is it about?
miRNAs participate in post-transcriptional regulation of gene expression and hence have been reported to have a crucial role in the pathogenesis of rheumatoid arthritis. We investigated the association of miR-146a rs2910164 (G/C) and miR-196a2 rs185070757 (T/G) with RA susceptibility in Pakistani patients followed by bioinformatic analysis and found that these variants are not involved.

Why is it important?
To date, the association of the SNPs rs2910164 in miR-146a and rs185070757 in miR-196a2 with RA risk has not been investigated in the Pakistani population. As we know, miRNA are important molecules in regulation of genes and hence inflammation. The findings might help in the personalized medicines and to further elucidate disease mechanism.
Perspectives
I believe this article will be liked by the readers. I enjoyed working on this project as a group leader and supervisor of the whole scientific process. RA is a common problem globally. This article will help in the disease management for the clinicians.
