What is it about?

This case highlights a common parasite causing a rare brain infection. This parasite can be transmitted to humans that come in contact with cat litter. Though most people will experience a mild, self-limiting illness, our case shows that severe presentation is also possible.

This paper highlights that simple hand washing and wearing gloves while changing cat litter can protect against severe illnesses. This case also shows that response to treatment with medications can be used to confirm the diagnosis.

A rare presentation of this common parasite. This case highlights that cerebral toxoplasmosis in immunocompetent individuals is possible and suggests that exposure to heavy inoculum may predispose to the infection.
