What is it about?

We made a study looking for the importance of prealbumin levels at admission in patients with an ischaemic stroke, to see if it can be used as a prognostic factor to know which patients will have a better outcome after treatment.

Why is it important?

Prealbumin levels have been associated with malnutrition, and in some studies, with a worse outcome in patients with heart disease. We present a new point of view of this molecule, that can also be used as a prognostic factor in patients with ischaemic stroke.

Perspectives

This article may represent a new path in stroke research, giving rise to new prognostic factors within our reach.
