What is it about?
Donepezil is commonly used to treat hallucinations in patients with dementia or other conditions. We have described two cases of patients with dementia in which this drug induced complex multimodal hallucinations (both visual and auditory), and discussed possible reasons why this could happen.

Why is it important?
Our work is the first to link donepezil and hallucinations by means of a challenge-dechallenge-rechallenge paradigm, i.e. the patients had hallucinations only when on donepezil, and the discontinuation of the drug led to their disappearance.
Perspectives
Writing this article was very interesting, because I had to carefully research the literature in order to give answers to the patients' caregivers. This improved my knowledge on the treatment available at the moment for Alzheimer's Disease, and stimulated more investigations on these particular cases.
