What is it about?
This study analyzed the expression patterns of GLI1, SMO, and IGF2BP1, target molecules of the Hedgehog (Hh) and Wnt signaling pathways, in a tumor from a patient with sporadic BCC and the adjacent no-tumorous tissue using immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Why is it important?
We believe that our study makes a significant contribution because the tumor of a patient with BCC revealed GLI1, SMO, and CRD-BP overexpression in IHC. The findings of this case may identify the activation of the Hh and Wnt pathways in the same tumor tissue. The findings of this case may identify the activation of the Hh and Wnt pathways in the same tumor tissue.
Perspectives
GLI1 is the main downstream effector of the Hh pathway, therefore it may serve as a molecular target in anticancer therapy.
