What is it about?

This article reviews patients with congenital cholesteatoma. They vary widely in age and both sexes can be affected. Congenital cholesteatoma must be suspected when a patient presents with otological symptoms and/or complications without apparent cause. Full audiological and radiological evaluation must be urgently performed. Total surgical excision is the only treatment, and the approach depends on hearing and the status of the facial nerve
